The Joint Chiropractic Franchise Opens New Clinic in Santa Rosa, California

The fastest growing chiropractic franchise continues rapid expansion in the Golden State

The Joint Chiropractic, the nation’s fastest-growing chiropractic franchise, is rapidly approaching 100 clinics in California. With the most recent opening in Santa Rosa, a growing city north of San Francisco, The Joint gets ever closer to the milestone.

The Santa Rosa Press Gazette, recently published an article heralding the news of the clinic opening.

“People all over struggle with muscle and back pain and often are referred to chiropractic offices to help find relief,” the publication reports. “The new chiropractic service offers easy and affordable access to routine chiropractic care, according to the staff at the clinic. Patients can come to the clinic without making appointments and without having any insurance.”

The Joint Chiropractic revolutionized the $15 billion chiropractic industry by making chiropractic care more accessible, convenient and affordable than ever before. Founded in 1999, The Joint has grown to more than 460 locations throughout the country, helping millions of people in the process find relief from neck and back pain. The rapid success of The Joint, now the fastest growing chiropractic franchise in the nation, is due to the straightforward business model that is easy to understand, quick to scale and meets a real need in the communities we serve. As a result, entrepreneurs with zero experience in the chiropractic industry, as well as chiropractors with significant experience, are choosing to franchise with The Joint.

“Chiropractic care is an essential aspect to any health and wellness routine,” says Dr. Steven Knauf, director of chiropractic and compliance for The Joint Chiropractic, in the article. “Everyday activities affect our bodies more than most people assume and chiropractic care can help patients find relief and keep them moving. With The Joint’s no appointment and no insurance necessary approach, chiropractic health has been made more easily accessible for all.”

The Joint Chiropractic Franchise Is Combating the Opioid Crisis

The fastest-growing chiropractic franchise offers drug-free relief from pain as an alternative to prescription pain medication

chiropractic franchise

The opioid epidemic is a national crisis. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that one out of every four patients struggles with addiction after being prescribed pain medication for non-cancer treatments. With the terrible effects of opioid addiction now widely known, the medical industry is recommending chiropractic care as an alternative to pain medication — and people are listening.

For the franchise owners of The Joint, the nation’s fastest-growing chiropractic franchise, the ability to help people in need is the most meaningful part of the business:

“I love being in the wellness space,” says Jeff McGinty, a multi-unit franchisee with The Joint in Atlanta, Georgia. “I love waking up and wondering how many lives we’re going to change today. It’s not a question of if we’re going to change lives — it’s a question of how many.”

The research is in: chiropractic care is an effective drug-free alternative to addictive medication

In a recent article published by the American Chiropractic Association, titled, “Chiropractic and the Opioid Epidemic: Rethinking Our Approach to Pain,” the research in the effectiveness of chiropractic care is well-established and is causing a change in approach by the medical industry at large:

In 2017, the American College of Physicians (ACP) updated its guidelines for the treatment of acute and chronic low back pain to recommend first using non-invasive, non-drug treatments before resorting to drug therapies.
In March 2016, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released guidelines for prescribing opioids that also promote non-pharmacologic alternatives for the treatment of chronic pain.
In 2015, the Joint Commission, the organization that accredits more than 20,000 health care systems in the U.S., including every major hospital, recognized the value of non-drug approaches by adding chiropractic and acupuncture to its pain management standard.*

In a moving article published recently in the Aiken Standard, “For Many, Opioid Addiction Starts with Chronic Pain,” journalist Kristina Rackley begins with: “Opioid addiction is an increasingly widespread problem in Aiken.”

In an effort to help readers understand that there are other options beyond paid medication to ease pain, she interviews Dr. Jerry Odom, a chiropractor at The Joint Chiropractic franchise in Aiken, S.C. Odom says that “30 percent of Americans live with some sort of chronic pain,” and that is the root of the problem.

“Most people, when they’re in pain, they go to the ER or their primary care provider,” Odom says in the article. “Most often they get prescription opioids or muscle relaxers … We adjust the structural dysfunction in the body, allowing it to heal itself, which more often than not erases the need for opioids all together.”

Odom, as the doctor, experiences how chiropractic care changes lives for the better on a daily basis:

“I just had a patient come in yesterday … She’s had chronic neck pain and low back pain for years, and has been taking several different types of pain relievers,” Odom says in the article. “She reported to me yesterday that she hadn’t taken anything in eight days.”

The Joint Chiropractic Franchise Reviewed in Forbes

Longtime patient attests in prestigious business publication to the benefits of membership in the fastest-growing chiropractic franchise

The Joint Chiropractic franchise is transforming the way chiropractic care is delivered in the United States. By emphasizing convenience, affordability and customer service, The Joint’s membership model has introduced chiropractic care to thousands of people, helping them heal in the process. This revolutionary model is not lost on Forbes, which recently published an article on the benefits of membership with The Joint.

In the article “The Joint Offers Affordable Chiropractic Care — Is It Right For You?”, author Jeanne Croteau writes that she has been a member of The Joint for a few years, and she outlines the benefits from the patient’s perspective:

No appointments — walk-ins welcome

No insurance hassles — $0 copays

Open evenings and weekends

Quality care by licensed professionals

“After being a member at The Joint for the past two years, I can say that, while things may vary slightly from one location to another, this is all true,” Croteau writes. “Typically, I can walk in to the clinic (which is often a storefront in a strip mall), scan the tag on my keychain and be adjusted almost immediately. I’m usually back in my van within five minutes.”

Croteau then writes that The Joint’s membership plan saves the patient money in the long term and allows a patient to be treated anywhere there is a clinic:

“While you can pay for single visits or purchase a package, it’s far more economical to sign up for the membership plan,” she writes. “With your membership, you can visit any location across the country, which comes in handy if you are traveling or have relocated.”

The Joint franchise ranked in Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 List for 2017From an owner’s perspective, the business model allows you to treat far more patients than a traditional clinic

The Joint is unique in the chiropractic franchise industry because of its gym-like membership model, which provides franchise owners with a recurring revenue stream and members with an affordable plan to manage their health and wellness. The Joint also offers multiple-visit bundles, encourages walk-in appointments and is open evenings and weekends, giving doctors the potential to treat far more customers than a traditional chiropractic clinic could ever imagine.

“The true success of The Joint is that we are making chiropractic care available to millions of Americans who never would have considered visiting a chiropractor before,” says Peter Holt, President and CEO with The Joint. “There are so many people suffering from neck and back pain as a result of our sedentary lifestyles, our diets, our workout regimens and our age. Our franchise owners become meaningful members of their communities because we’re right next door to the supermarkets, the coffee shops like Starbucks and restaurants like Chipotle. We’re accessible, affordable and we can treat our customers in a matter of minutes — sending them on their way to meet their friends or do their grocery shopping.”

The Joint Chiropractic Partners with Sherman College of Chiropractic

The fastest-growing chiropractic franchise makes a significant investment to provide educational and employment opportunities for students

In 2018, The Joint Chiropractic, the nation’s fastest-growing chiropractic franchise, has won significant mainstream recognition from the $16 billion chiropractic industry. In January, The Joint Chiropractic celebrated the opening of its 400th location. In June, The Joint’s Director of Chiropractic and Compliance, Dr. Steven Knauf, was appointed to the American Chiropractic Association’s prestigious Committee on Quality Assurance and Accountability.

Now, The Joint Chiropractic is partnering with Sherman College of Chiropractic to support the renovation of their campus. Over the next five years, The Joint Chiropractic has committed to donating $150,000 to help maintain a world-class educational experience for their students. The institution will be naming the school’s main lobby for The Joint Chiropractic.

“We are thrilled to partner with Sherman College because of its focus on teaching the art, philosophy and science of chiropractic to its students,” says Peter Holt, The Joint Chiropractic’s President and CEO. “The school is a leader in developing students who become extremely skilled, knowledgeable and passionate chiropractors who seek to improve lives through chiropractic care.”

The Joint Chiropractic is the largest employer of chiropractors in the nation and recently unveiled a program to help make their path to ownership easier than ever. By providing a business model that allows chiropractors to focus on what they love — helping patients heal — and be mentored by existing franchisees, The Joint is helping chiropractors develop the skill sets they need to run successful and prosperous businesses.

It is fitting, then, that The Joint’s commitment to chiropractic care should extend to the next generation of chiropractors at Sherman College.

“Sherman College and The Joint share a vision of helping others and changing the world through chiropractic,” says Edwin Cordero, D.C., President of Sherman College. “We are thankful for The Joint’s support of our institution’s mission and values, and we look forward to partnering with them as we continue our mission of educating highly skilled, compassionate and successful chiropractors.”

Founded in 1999, The Joint Chiropractic is leading the way in making chiropractic care a convenient and affordable part of health and wellness for millions of people seeking relief from back, neck and joint pain. As a result, The Joint can treat many more patients than a traditional chiropractic clinic by a large margin. According to the brand’s most recent Franchise Disclosure Document, The Joint reported weekly patient visits that were 152 percent higher [AG1] than those at independently-owned clinics.

“The need for great chiropractors will continue to increase as more patients choose chiropractic care to improve their function and, more importantly, live healthier lives,” says Dr. Steven Knauf, D.C., Director of Chiropractic for The Joint. “Because of this, The Joint is proud to support Sherman College of Chiropractic, which is dedicated to the education of these future professionals.”

The Joint Chiropractic Franchise Helps Franchisees Attract Chiropractors

The fastest-growing chiropractic franchise offers a new program for franchisees to mentor chiropractors through the process of business ownership

chiropractic franchiseOne of the many reasons why entrepreneurs choose to franchise with The Joint Chiropractic, the nation’s fastest-growing chiropractic franchise, is their passion to help people find relief from pain. Their franchisees work side-by-side with exceptional chiropractors who are highly trained to bring positive life changes to their patients, and, more importantly, are able to mentor in the world of business.

When doctors graduate from chiropractic school, they are often encouraged to open independent clinics — even though many still lack the business acumen and financial stability to make their ventures successful. To help attract the very best chiropractors, The Joint Chiropractic has launched a path-to-ownership program for chiropractors that enables its franchisees to act as ongoing mentors and business partners.

Their path-to-ownership program is designed to help franchisees and chiropractors mutually benefit in the short- and long-term through a three-phase process:

Apprenticeship: Chiropractors work for a franchise owner with The Joint Chiropractic for a minimum of two years. This essential period allows chiropractors to focus on what they do best: helping their patients heal. The franchise owner is able to track the doctor’s performance against agreed-upon milestones, such as a number of new patients, number of adjustments, quality of service and more, which are reviewed on a monthly basis.

Mentorship: Once the franchisee validates that the chiropractor has achieved their milestones consistently over the agreed-upon timeline, the franchisee then promotes the doctors to manage their clinic. This mentorship is essential to doctors, as they learn every aspect of operating a clinic from a business owner’s perspective, including how to market, lead a team, perform scheduling and payroll, and attract new patients.

Partnership: Once the chiropractor has attained proven, operational expertise, the franchisee and doctor go into business together to open a new clinic. Typically, the franchisee contributes 80% of the funds, while the doctor adds the other 20%. This arrangement allows the chiropractor to receive local support from a trusted partner and proceed with the confidence and necessary skill set to thrive and prosper.

“We’re very proud to launch a program that makes the path to ownership easier and more sustainable for chiropractors, while also benefiting our existing franchisees in both the short- and long-term,” says Eric Simon, Vice President of Franchise Development with The Joint Chiropractic. “Chiropractors fresh out of school often don’t have the skill sets necessary to immediately succeed as the owner of an independent clinic. This program allows chiropractors to be mentored by our franchisees in all of the aspects of their business, after they have proven their expertise as a chiropractor. Once certain milestones are reached, franchisees and chiropractors are able to enter into business together in a way that benefits both parties.”

the joint franchise named best health care franchiseWhy do chiropractors enjoy working at The Joint Chiropractic?

The Joint Chiropractic is the largest employer of chiropractors in the nation. Aside from realizing their dreams of going into business for themselves, chiropractors enjoy working at The Joint Chiropractic due to their straightforward business model which allows them to focus on what they do best: helping patients heal.

Founded in 1999, The Joint Chiropractic is leading the way in making chiropractic care an convenient and affordable part of health and wellness for millions of people seeking relief from back, neck and joint pain. As a result, The Joint Chiropractic clinics can treat many more patients than a traditional chiropractic clinic by a large margin. According to the brand’s most recent Franchise Disclosure Document, The Joint Chiropractic reported weekly patient visits that were 152 percent higher than those at individually owned clinics.

“I truly believe that The Joint is the future of chiropractic care,” says Dr. Tim McKinley, owner of The Joint franchise clinic in Houston, Texas. “The coolest thing for me as the chiropractor and owner of my clinic is the concept — the business model. The patients love it. It’s created from their perspective. It meets their wants and needs. When you go into an environment where the customer is happy about where they are and the services they’re receiving, it’s a great place to be. It’s much more pleasant to come to work at a place like that than at a traditional chiropractic care practice, where the majority of your time is spent dealing with attorneys and insurance companies. I honestly cannot foresee the traditional chiropractic care clinic lasting much longer. With The Joint, a chiropractor can devote his or her energies to helping people in a friendlier environment for the patient and doctor.”

The Joint Chiropractic Franchise Opens First Clinic in Oklahoma

The fastest-growing chiropractic franchise celebrates the opening
of first clinic in the Sooner State

The Joint, the nation’s fastest-growing chiropractic franchise, recently announced the opening of its first-ever location in Oklahoma. The new clinic is open in Edmond, a city that’s part of the booming Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area.

The Edmond Sun ran a story that began like this: “The days of dealing with chronic back pain, neck pain and migraines will soon be a thing of the past for some Edmond residents who choose to visit a new business.”

The Joint Chiropractic lobby

The cause for celebration goes far beyond how The Joint makes chiropractic care more accessible and more affordable than the citizens of Edmond have experienced before.

Founded in 1999, The Joint is ushering in a new era of the $15 billion chiropractic industry by placing clinics in highly visible retail settings — next to supermarkets and coffee shops. The Joint only offers walk-in spinal alignments, conducted by hand. Its gym-style membership model does away with the need for insurance. As a result, The Joint can treat patients in as little as 15 minutes — easy for visits to fit in between shopping trips on the weekends or on commutes home from work.

The publication reports that Dr. Matt Dreadfulwater, who operates four franchise clinics in Dallas and Fort Worth, is operating the clinic in Edmond.

“Chiropractic care is an important aspect of any health and wellness routine. Everyday activities, such as sitting at a desk all day or constantly looking down to check our phones, take a toll on our bodies — especially our back, shoulders and neck. A key to preventing and managing pain is routine chiropractic adjustments,” Dreadfulwater says in the article. “The Joint removes the hassle of insurance and booking appointments, making it more convenient for patients in Edmond to maintain a chiropractic care regimen.”

Where is The Joint expanding?

This has been a significant year for The Joint, which celebrated the opening of its 400th location earlier in the year. The chiropractic care franchise has been growing at a rapid clip for several years; here is a short list of the openings The Joint has recently announced:

  • Two new franchise clinics in Atlanta, Georgia. This brings the total franchise clinics in the Atlanta metropolitan area to 31 locations.
  • One new franchise in Cleveland, Ohio. This is The Joint’s first franchise clinic in Northeast Ohio and the sixth in the Buckeye State.
  • One new franchise clinic in Wichita, Kansas. This is the second location in the city’s market.

The fastest-growing chiropractic franchise is rapidly expanding

The Joint continues to live up to its standing as the fastest-growing chiropractic franchise in the nation with the announcement of multiple new openings. The new franchise clinics are open in Weston, Florida, as well as in the two Texas cities of Austin and San Antonio.

The Joint chiropractic franchise is a low cost investment with high return

The Joint also announced that expansion into Texas continues with four new clinics in development for the Houston market. Growth beyond the Lonestar State remains strong as well, with four new clinics planned for Cleveland, Ohio.

“We are extremely excited about the continued momentum The Joint is experiencing in the early months of 2018,” says Eric Simon, Vice President of Franchise Sales and Development with The Joint. “Our regional developers have been extremely effective in connecting entrepreneurs and chiropractors with our franchise opportunity. Given that so many millions of people are in need of affordable and high-quality chiropractic care, we expect our growth will continue to be strong as the year moves forward.”

Since 1999, The Joint has grown to 400 locations open across the United States. This rapid development is the direct result of the brand’s transformative approach to chiropractic care. The Joint places its clinics next to supermarkets, restaurants and coffee shops, and its unique gym-like membership model makes chiropractic care more affordable and accessible, while doing away with the need for insurance. As a result, The Joint is both more profitable and sees more patients than a traditional chiropractic clinic on average, according to our most recent Franchise Disclosure Document.

You Don’t Need a Medical Background to Franchise with The Joint

The fastest-growing chiropractic franchise has a simple business model that is attracting entrepreneurs with no prior medical background

The Joint, the nation’s fastest-growing chiropractic franchise, recently celebrated 400 locations open across the country. That milestone would have been unthinkable if the business model was designed for only those with experience in owning and operating a chiropractic clinics. While it is true that chiropractors are franchising with The Joint in large numbers, their reason is the same as any other entrepreneur’s: the business model is easy to understand.

the joint franchise image

Walk into one of The Joint’s more than 400 clinics in the United States, and you will see a simple layout: one person who welcomes patients, and one or two doctors treating patients expertly and efficiently. By only performing spinal alignments conducted by hand, doctors who work for The Joint can see many more patients each day than a traditional chiropractic clinic. This is strategic as The Joint is a cash-model business that requires no appointments and no insurance. Clinics are placed in highly-visible retail settings next to supermarkets, coffee shops and restaurants, and they are open nights and weekends. The Joint is not only making chiropractic care more accessible to consumers, it also is making owning a chiropractic clinic more accessible to entrepreneurs.

An excellent example is Paul Trindel, who was a multi-unit owner of Cold Stone Creamery before becoming a multi-unit franchisee with The Joint and regional developer for clinics in North Carolina and Tennessee.

“The Joint is far simpler to open and manage than a food business,” Trindel says. “I often joke that it causes a lot less brain damage. At my ice cream businesses, I’m dealing with teenagers, who can be flaky, late and unprofessional. At The Joint, it’s completely the opposite. Your staff shares the same purpose you do, which is to help people get the care they need.”

Founded in 1999, The Joint is leading the way in making chiropractic care an essential and affordable part of health and wellness for millions of people seeking relief from back, neck and joint pain. According to the brand’s most recent Franchise Disclosure Document, The Joint reported weekly patient visits that were 152 percent higher than those to individually-owned clinics.

For Robb Quinlan, who was a professional baseball player with the Los Angeles Angels before becoming the owner of four franchise clinics with The Joint in Minneapolis, Minnesota, The Joint is a way to get into business that serves a noble purpose in the community.

“When I discovered The Joint, and I saw how they were making chiropractic care more accessible, more affordable and convenient for people, I knew that I wanted to become a franchisee. I recognized that The Joint is the future of the chiropractic industry,” Quinlan says. “The Joint is a great business for entrepreneurs who want to make a difference.”

Former Baseball Star Wins Praise for Success with The Joint Chiropractic

Franchising highlights multi-unit owner’s success with fastest-growing chiropractic franchise in new article

It’s no secret that many professional athletes find success in business after they hang up their jerseys for the last time. The leadership skills and the sense of collaboration that is learned on the field often translates into savvy business acumen that allows former professional athletes to thrive and prosper. In a new article published by Franchising, Robb Quinlan is highlighted as an example of how a professional athlete can become successful in business.

Quinlan, who now owns four clinics with The Joint and also serves as the Regional Developer for Minnesota, was a star infielder with the Los Angeles Angels for eight years. When a major injury in 2004 occurred, the process of recovery brought him to what would become his second passion: chiropractic care.

“I tore my oblique in August of 2004,” Quinlan says in the article. “That ended my season and put my neck and spine out of alignment. When I was home during the offseason, I found a chiropractor. It helped tremendously with my rehabilitation.”

The article points out that after Quinlan retired from baseball in 2011, his belief in chiropractic care was so strong that, “when he discovered The Joint Chiropractic, he was sold.”

Quinlan is now not only a multi-unit franchisee with The Joint, he is also serving to fuel the brand’s growth in Minnesota in his role as Area Developer. Since he assumed that role, he has helped to expand The Joint in the state by a total of eight locations so far.

“People come in complaining about back pain they’ve had for years,” Quinlan says in the article. “They see what we have to offer, and in a few visits they see results.”

The Joint Welcomes New Regional Developers of Tennessee

The fastest-growing chiropractic franchise announces new Regional Developers to spearhead growth in the Volunteer State

The Joint, the nation’s fastest-growing chiropractic franchise, recently announced aggressive expansion plans for Tennessee. With plans to open multiple locations across the state in the coming years, The Joint is excited to announce veteran franchisees Chad Eades and Paul Trindle as the new Regional Developers for Tennessee.

Image of Nashville, with "Expansion Plans For Tennessee" caption.

Trindle and Eades are multi-unit franchisees with The Joint, and the longtime friends are the ideal ambassadors to onboard new entrepreneurs. Their success in managing multiple clinics, despite not having prior experience in the chiropractic industry, is a testament to the ease and simplicity of the brand’s business model. Their intimate knowledge of how to run and grow profitable clinics will be a vital resource for new franchisees in Tennessee.

“We’re extremely excited to help entrepreneurs in Tennessee find success with The Joint,” Trindle says. “The opportunity is simply enormous. Last month, our combined region of North Carolina and Tennessee performed over 34,000 adjustments, which just shows you how many people are in need of affordable and accessible chiropractic care. We only have seven clinics open in Tennessee, and the level of interest we’re experiencing now from entrepreneurs is a clear indicator that we’ve barely scratched the surface in the market.”

Inside view of The Joint ChiropracticFounded in 1999, The Joint is leading the way in making chiropractic care an essential and affordable part of health and wellness for millions of people seeking relief from back, neck and joint pain. Rapid expansion is proof that The Joint is meeting an enormous need in communities across the country. In the past few years, The Joint has grown consistently and now has more than 400 locations open or in development across the United States.

The new Regional Developers recently took a road trip across Tennessee to survey the landscape and explore the markets where The Joint can expand its existing footprint, as well as establish a presence.

“We put 1,500 miles on the car in a week and a half,” Eades says. “There are so many opportunities to capitalize on the growing demand for chiropractic across the entire state. It’s hard to believe that we do not have clinics open in Knoxville, Chattanooga and Bristol. In Nashville, where we have four clinics open, and Memphis, where we have three, there is still ample opportunity for existing franchisees to expand their footprint. We’re excited to help new and existing franchisees make a real difference in people’s lives, while also improving the quality of their own lives by opening new franchise clinics for The Joint.
